Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
Principals is a private, application-only gathering hosted by Interesting People Events. This policy explains what we collect when you apply or register, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it brief, and we keep it honest.
By submitting an application, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy. Where we rely on your consent for optional communications, you can withdraw it at any time.
What we collect
- Contact information: your name and email address.
- Professional information: your role or title, the family office or organization you represent, and the responses you provide in your application (a short bio, how you heard about us, and similar context).
- Registration & payment: if you are accepted and register, payment is processed securely by Stripe. We receive a record of the transaction (amount, date, status) but we never see or store your card number.
- Technical data: IP address and submission timestamp, used to keep the application process secure and prevent abuse.
- Cookies: our website uses only the strictly necessary cookies required to operate the application form and process payments securely. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
How we use your information
- To review your application: our team reads every application to evaluate fit for the room.
- To contact you: to communicate our decision and, if you are accepted, to share registration and event details.
- To arrange your stay: if you choose to book the held room block, we coordinate with the Four Seasons Whistler so your reservation is in order.
- To prevent abuse: to detect spam and protect the integrity of the application process.
How applications are reviewed
A real person reads every application and makes the decision — never an algorithm. To inform that decision, we may also conduct standard background research using publicly available information and automated tools (including web search) to compile a brief profile of an applicant. Any notes or research are used internally only and are not shared outside our organization. This research is limited to professional and publicly available information relevant to evaluating fit; we do not seek out sensitive personal information.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and we do not use the attendee list as a prospect list. We share data only with the service providers who help us operate the event, and only as needed:
- Stripe — to process registration payments.
- Our email provider — to send application and event communications.
- The Four Seasons Whistler — only if you elect to book through the group room block.
These providers are bound to handle your data only on our instructions.
Data retention
- Accepted attendees: retained for the duration of your participation plus one year (transaction records may be kept longer where tax or accounting rules require it).
- Waitlisted applicants: retained for one year for potential future consideration.
- Applicants not selected: deleted within 90 days of the decision.
- Incomplete applications: deleted after 90 days.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: request correction of inaccurate information.
- Deletion: request deletion of your data, subject to legal and accounting requirements.
- Withdrawal: withdraw your application at any time before a decision is made.
To exercise any of these, email paige@follypartners.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Canada, this is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; if you are located elsewhere, you may contact your local authority.
Confidentiality at the event
Principals run under the Chatham House Rule. There is no press, no recording, and private comments are not attributed outside the room. The experience depends on people being able to speak candidly.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and secure authentication for our team. In the event of a data breach that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
Where your data is handled
Principals is operated from Canada and the event is held in British Columbia. If you apply from outside Canada, your information may be processed in Canada and the United States by our service providers and us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated to applicants with active applications.
